HOW WE WORK TOGETHER

A working note.
A clearer next step.

Start with your learning priorities. Work through a practical question, then turn the discussion into something you can use and review.

ILLUSTRATIVE LEARNING NOTE01 / CONVERSATION PREP

Prepare the next conversation.

A client mentions more than one source of income. What would you ask next?

Learning focus
Separate what you know from what still needs to be understood.
Questions to explore
How is each income earned? Which information needs to be clarified or verified?
Practical next step
Draft a focused question list. Record the gaps to research and the guidance you need.
Reflection
Which question improved your understanding? What will you ask differently next time?
A fictional learning example, not an assessment of a borrower or a lending recommendation.
BEFORE / FIND YOUR FOCUS

Set your learning priorities.

Bring your experience, questions and the tasks you want to handle more confidently. Identify the areas to work on first.

TOGETHER / WORK IT THROUGH

Make the thinking visible.

Use a suitable scenario or practice task to explore your reasoning, prepare useful questions and organise the information you need.

AFTER / APPLY & REVIEW

Keep a record of the learning.

Capture the next action, what you will try and what to revisit. Use your reflection to shape the next conversation.

WHAT YOU CAN BUILD

Useful tools.
Your own way of working.

  • A learning planPriorities that connect your starting point with practical skills.
  • A scenario frameworkA repeatable way to organise facts, questions and research.
  • A review recordActions, reflections and questions to carry into the next discussion.

We agree the focus, format, frequency and fees before mentoring begins.

Shape your learning plan

BEFORE YOUR FIRST STEP

You can start
with a question.

You do not need to have every answer before the first conversation.

01I’m new to broking. Where should I start?

Start with your experience, the work you are beginning to take on and the areas that feel unfamiliar. A discovery conversation helps identify the practical support that would be most useful for your next stage.

02What can we work through in mentoring?

Topics can include client conversations, scenario thinking, document preparation, broker notes and managing the application journey. The focus is on developing the way you approach the work and the questions you ask.

03How is mentoring different from coaching?

Mentoring focuses on practical capability as a broker. Business coaching steps back to consider how you organise, operate and grow your business. The two can connect, depending on your goals and starting point. Explore business coaching

04How are the sessions and scope arranged?

We begin by discussing your stage, learning priorities and availability. The format, frequency, scope of support and fees are agreed before you begin, so you know what the arrangement covers.

05What should I bring to the first conversation?

Bring a brief outline of your experience, the work you are starting to do and two or three questions you would like help with. Keep examples general and leave client names, documents and other personal information out of your website enquiry.

THE NEXT CHAPTER IS YOURS

Start where you are.
Let’s work from there.
